A magnetic pulley is installed at the discharge end of a conveyor belt, where it generates a strong magnetic field that attracts and separates ferrous materials such as nails, bolts, and tramp iron from the product stream. As the belt rotates, non-magnetic material is discharged normally, while ferrous contaminants are held against the pulley and separated from the flow.
